Yamaha's first motorcycle, the YA-1, was released in 1955' and was the first product from their new division "Yamaha Motor Company". Yamaha's almost immediate success in their YA-1 platform granted race wins around the world in national events. This would in the coming years influence Yamaha's product line with rich racing heritage and propel their high performance designs to achieve higher and higher goals. Following the YA-1 in 1957 Yamaha released the YA-2 with a stronger lighter frame and improved suspension. In addition to those changes the new YA-2's engine was twice the size moving from a 125cc to a 250cc power-plant. Yamaha Motor Company's products continued to win races year after year and place highly in competitions around the world all the way up to 1964'.
